Energy Manager








Our client operates 320 heating and cooling systems around the world in response to the long-term comfort needs (heating and air-conditioning) of both public and private sectors, at the same time as protecting the environment. A world market leader for three decades, they continue to expand its presence in Asia, the Middle East and North America. 

We are doing a search for an Energy Manager to ensure reliable and cost-effective delivery of a major district energy system in the National Capital Region. The project is a 35-year mandate for the operation and maintenance of a critical district heating and cooling plant network servicing governmental buildings in the Ottawa and Gatineau area.




  • Ensure the overall Energy and GHG performances of the system operated.
  • Gather and analyze production equipment efficiency information including, utility metering data, plant energy data, weather data including customer load profiles, chillers, heat exchangers, boilers, pumping performance and efficiency and network system information.
  • Managing different stakeholders.
  • Conduct plant audits to assess energy performance and provide written reports of findings and recommend steps to investigate potential opportunities.
  • Follow up the energy management dashboard and provide recommendations to the operators to ensure the level of performance is targeted.
  • Participate to meetings with the customer and prepare the report to be submitted.
  • Ability to identify, develop and implement energy-saving measures in the areas of Process Automation and central plant through the application of industry-leading technology.
  • Identify and provide project recommendations for energy-saving measures, operational changes, maintenance and upgrades that result in reduced energy consumption with return on investment calculations that include application of available incentive programs.
  • Execute all activities to ensure savings are realized including ongoing energy performance monitoring.
  • Lead or participate to the realization of the project & the ensuing energy performance monitoring.
  • Record pre and post project conditions including commissioning and acceptance testing.
  • Support the Fuel and Electricity Procurement and Management Process that guides the Energy Mix, the Performance and the Dispatch.


  • University Degree in Engineering (Mechanical and or Electrical/Energy).
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience working in a large district heating and cooling plant.
  • Previous experience in modifying a dispatch strategy to optimize performance of the multi-source system to deliver the service in a more cost-effective, efficient or environmentally sustainable manner.
  • Ability to analyze situations, identify existing or potential problems and recommend solutions.
  • Strong leadership skills in leading activities with Stakeholders (internal and external).
  • Able to work in a Team environment and independently
  •  Strong knowledge of district Energy Systems is an asset.
  • ISO 50001 Certified practitioner in Energy Management Systems (CpEnMS Data analytics and modeling energy profile would be an asset. (Engie Services will support the candidate in obtaining certification if needed within the first 6 Months of employment).
