Senior Mechanical Engineer

Our client is a consulting engineering firm serving the residential and commercial land development industries in southern Georgian Bay and the GTA. Projects typically include design of public and private infrastructure components, development driven road improvements, traffic studies as well as water resource, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering assignments.  

We are seeking a licensed Mechanical Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of progressive work experience in the private sector land development.


  • Act as primary technical lead for the Mechanical department. Work will include mentorship of junior and intermediate staff, as well as general project management responsibilities (proposal preparation, business development, technical design, coordination with clients and contractors throughout projects).
  • Assist with identification of mechanical requirements and preparation of detailed mechanical designs, for a wide variety of projects, including single and multi-story buildings and commercial sites.
  • Prepare mechanical servicing designs for building systems including HVAC and plumbing systems, code reviews for SB10/12 and OBC compliance, and administration of construction projects from design specification through to building occupancy.
  • Review mechanical shop drawing specifications for quality control.
  • Perform field reviews for mechanical systems and attend site meetings regarding same.
  • Prepare project proposals, timelines, specifications and work schedules.
  • Attend events/meetings aimed at identifying business opportunities.


  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO).
  • Minimum of 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience.
  • Documented project experience in preparation/analysis of mechanical designs/requirements for various residential/commercial projects.
  • Experience with HVAC and plumbing design is essential.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical and electrical design principles, the Ontario Building Code, municipal standards and other general building requirements within the Province of Ontario.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills and ability to prioritize/manage multiple project timelines and resources.
  • Dynamic, resourceful team motivator with proven track record.
