Description
Our client, a diverse and leading consulting engineering firm with locations in Toronto, Milton, Bradford and Collingwood, current have new and strategic role for Director, Building Services part f the Building Services Group. This position is either Toronto, Guelph, Milton, or Bradford.
This position reports to the President of the company. As Director of Building Services, you will be responsible for leading the vertical structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering groups into the next phase of growth. As an effective communicator, you will be responsible for advancing technical excellence, developing new business, and ensuring effective delivery of building services projects to their clients.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Mechanical engineering; Master’s degree or MBA an asset.
20 + years of experience working on multidisciplinary projects across all building sectors including commercial, institutional, industrial, and residential.
Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), in good standing with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO), registration in other provinces and or LEED AP certification an asset.
Strong knowledge and understanding of primary building systems, building performance integration and carbon reduction initiatives in various types of buildings.
Experience in the following project delivery models; design-bid-build, design build, private public partnerships (P3) and integrated project delivery (IPD).
Highly skilled at building and managing client relationships.
Proven ability to determine appropriate market-based design fees for all phases of work; preliminary, design development, contract documents and construction review.
Strong business management experience in the review and execution of contracts as well as key performance indicators such as utilization, direct labour multiplier, days sales outstanding.
Demonstrated ability implementing project quality control reviews.
Thorough understanding of appropriate codes and standards specifications (i.e., Ontario Building Code, ESA).
Advanced communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Strong computer proficiency in MS Office applications with the ability to quickly learn new tools.
Responsibilities:
Develop, propose and implement business strategy of building service group in support of larger Strategic Plan.
In collaboration with the Building Services Group managers, oversee and direct successful delivery of multidisciplinary building engineering projects.
Maintain and develop positive client relationships generating new business.
Act as a technical advisor on complex building engineering projects.
Enhance and develop building engineering standards, process and quality review for design and construction.
Foster a team environment by providing mentorship, coaching, learning and develop opportunities.
Oversee group resources by monitoring key performance indicators i.e., utilization, direct labour margin and other available methods.
Promote use of technologies and software’s to advance building engineering practices.
