Our client is a commercial real estate investment manager dedicated to providing institutional and high net worth investors with direct access to commercial real estate assets. Through the execution of their disciplined investment approach and active management of our properties, they strive to deliver stable income and attractive long-term returns through a diversified portfolio of office, industrial, retail and multi-family residential properties.  

Due to growth and success, we are looking for a Manager, Asset Management to add to their growing and successful team.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Vice President, the role will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing strategic plans for a growing portfolio of commercial properties.

  • Overseeing the leasing function including the establishment of annual leasing guidelines, the direction of 3rd party leasing agents, and the active involvement in lease negotiations and recommendations.

  • Directing 3rd party property and development managers in the creation and execution of annual operating and/or development budgets and capital investment programs and the day-to-day execution and oversight of same.

  • Directing the completion of property valuations and working with other members of the teams in the calculation of investment returns, as well as regular external client and internal property and Fund reporting requirements.

  • Ensuring the integrity, accuracy, consistency, and completeness of third-party reporting (e.g., monthly reports, financial statements, capital plans & amortization schedules, tenant receivable and recovery schedules, etc.).

  • Actively participating in the acquisition and disposition of properties including the underwriting and due diligence process as required

  • Engaging and interacting effectively with a variety of internal and external third parties including clients, property managers, tenants.

Qualifications:

  • Ideally 7+ years of related experience, including time spent as part of a real estate asset management team, preferably in a fiduciary environment, with a solid and practical understanding of investment fundamentals and Canadian real estate market dynamics.  Candidates with experience from real estate brokerage, investments, or lending and/or other real estate functions will also be considered. 

  • Excellent financial and analytical skills and solid understanding of accounting fundamentals.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and proven ability to think logically and problem solve effectively.

  • Strong computer skills with advanced knowledge of MS Excel, familiarity with ARGUS an asset.

  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under pressure, dealing with changes and interruptions while maintaining strict deadlines.

  • Proven self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.  

  • University Degree (emphasis in finance, real estate or urban studies).

  • Post-graduate credentials preferred but not required.
