 Manager, Municipal Services

Mississauga or Brampton

 Due to growth and success, they are seeking a Manager – Municipal Services to run their new office in the Brampton / Mississauga area. Reporting to a Vice President this position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the department and provides oversight of a wide range of municipal infrastructure engineering projects that may include roads, sewers, watermains, culverts, stormwater management infrastructure, hydrologic and hydraulic stormwater modelling, hydraulic water system modelling and construction contract management.

 As a senior member of the management team, ideally looking for:

To Qualify, Ideally we are looking for 

·         P.Eng or CET Degree in Civil Engineering (or related field)

·         15 + years of progressive engineering design experience.

·         10 + years of providing effective mentoring to less experienced engineers, technicians, or designers.

·         Superior client and interpersonal skills, combined with strong team and leadership abilities.

·         Highly proficient with the principles and practices of civil engineering and especially equipment, processes, practices, and standards used in the design and construction of municipal infrastructure

·         Exceptional organizational and time management skills and the ability to balance diverse, changing, and conflicting priorities to meet short and long-term project milestones.

·         Demonstrated experience with business development.

Responsibilities:

 

·         Maintain a positive working environment conducive to promoting teamwork, creativity, and positive morale.

·         Oversees the day-to-day department operations to ensure a balanced workload and that work is performed within established project schedules and budgets.

·         Ensures that all department goals, objectives and policies are effectively implemented

·         Provides guidance, coaching and mentoring to department staff

·         Remains current with changing design, regulations and construction methodologies

·         Provides overall project management duties and or lead design efforts on some projects

·         Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, codes, regulations, and guidelines.

·         Continually improves standards and best practices and implements effective quality assurance and quality control reviews.

·         Actively participates on corporate committees and acts in an advisory capacity to all levels of the Company.

·         Builds and maintains effective working relationships with clients.

·         Assesses and identifies new opportunities for growth in current and prospective markets

·         Works with senior management to design business strategies and plans to meet the Company goals

·         Manages and supervises departmental staff and performs annual performance evaluations on direct reports

·         Partners with Human Resources on recruitment and selection, promotion, employee relations matters and performance management.

·         Maintains affiliations with professional societies to keep abreast of current and future technologies.
